我们教什么 and Right to Withdraw

Our PSHE和RE curriculums cover a wide range of topics that are important about educating our young people about the world around them and how society works.  We teach a variety of topics in addition to our subjects and these are both important in creating well rounded young people but equally are a legal requirement set out by government (more info 在这里).

We spend thirty minutes a week focussing upon the above themes and these are delivered by our teaching staff in an age appropriate way.  The resources we use are either created internally by our PSHE coordinator or delivered using DfE approved organisations such as The PSHE Association.

We believe that educating our students on the aspects above are important in ensuring they become global citizens.

Right to Withdraw from Religious Education and Sex and Relationships Education.

As a parent you have the right to withdraw from certain aspects of our PSHE/SMSC/Citizenship curriculum and also the Religious Education curriculum.

Parents are free to withdraw their children from Sex and Relationships aspects of the curriculum if they wish to do so. The only exceptions to this are the biological aspects of animal growth and reproduction that are essential elements of National 课程 Science. The Deputy Head Teacher will always seek to discuss this decision with parents, with a view to sharing the educational objectives and content of the Sex and Relationships syllabus. In this way, parents can make an informed decision. W在这里 parents have requested that their child is withdrawn, their right must be respected, and w在这里 Sex and Relationships Education is integrated in the curriculum, the school will need to discuss the arrangements with the parents to explore how the child’s withdrawal can be best accommodated. If pupils are withdrawn from these aspects of PSHE, the school has a duty to supervise them, though not to provide additional teaching or to incur extra cost.
